AAA was founded in 1902, in part as an advocacy organization to improve the quality and safety of the nation's roadways.

Among the hallmarks of AAA's work has been a dedication to continually improving safety for the motoring public. But we also recognize the need to balance environmental concerns with the public's cherished right to travel and their right to a safe, efficient and flexible transportation system that meets their needs.
