Truck Safety

According to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, in 2002 more than 4,897 people were killed in large truck and car crashes, showing a slight decrease from 2001.

Large trucks play a critical role in the nation's economy, and their numbers are likely to increase dramatically in the coming years. The need to safely share the road has never been greater. Read more about truck safety, gathered from AAA publications and research:

Truck safety is a priority for AAA. Our members consistently rate sharing the road with large trucks as one of their greatest fears. AAA monitors and responds to rulemakings and legislative initiatives on a variety of truck safety issues to ensure that proposals guarantee the highest standards of safety for all motorists who share increasingly crowded roads. AAA's national safety campaign, "Share With Care," focuses on raising public awareness of truck safety issues and techniques for sharing the road with commercial trucks. The legislative component focuses on ensuring federal guidelines for the trucking industry to consider motorist and highway safety.
